MENTORSHIP PROGRAM AT INDIA QUALITY ASSOCIATION
("MENTOR: ME-Nurturing-TOwardsyour-Role-enhancement")
The mentoring programme at IQA has been designed to provide each mentee an opportunity to spend quality time with senior industry leader who helps them to navigate their development.
Each mentee shall be assigned a Mentor after mapping the initial development need identified by Mentee and relevant experience of Mentor
It is suggested that meeting between mentor and mentee are held at regular frequency to be decided between the two as per mutual convenience
Suggested process for the engagement
Stage 1: Mentor & mentee introduces each other, share expectations and define norms and schedule sessions to discover the mentee and his or her story
What have been defining moments?
• When were you at your personal best and what happened that gave you lasting joy?
• Who all were involved?
• What caused you to do your best? what does it teach about your gifts?
What matters most at this stage of your life?
• Mentor to listen with ears and eyes of child ---framework of appreciative inquiry
• What is the one aspect that mentee wishes to develop in himself or herself given what he/she defines as what matters most and agree on post session plan to work on
• How can you leverage your gifts (Strengths)to become better at your development goals?
• Mentee will identify some simple steps and begin to work on them
Stage 2: Mentee will report on progress and mentee will ask
• What is your learning style?
• Do you learn by reading, writing, observing, thru dialogue, hearing yourself talk or experimentation?
• How can you leverage your learning style to learn aspects to make progress on your development goal?
• Agree on specific actions and mentee practices
Stage 3: Progress of the mentee is reviewed, and mentor gives feedback to him or her on the progress and gives tips on what mentee can do to progress further
<< Mentor/ Mentee can peruse the resources and tracking mechanism chart from the common IQA Pool to track the objective process >>
Stage 4: Mentor enquires about progress and encourages and appreciates the mentee and gives additional guidance on how mentee could make further progress
• The mentor also inquires about where the mentee is getting stuck
Stage 5: The final benefits to mentee are captured and a case study on the engagement is prepared where learning of both mentor & mentee are listed and best practices / tips are documented.
<< IQA would recognise the Mentor-Mentee on this momentous journey undertaken by the two >>
